Some days, we wake up to the sun, and others... to their destiny.

Priya Selvam woke to the faint chirping of sparrows outside her window. The sky remained soaked in the pale hues of early grey, and a soft breeze carried the scent of wet earth into her modest yet tastefully done room. Her family was - a decently settled, a rich home leaning towards comfort. Simple, clean walls, elegant photo frames, polished furniture, and a few rich-colored curtains her mother loved picking out during festive sales.

The alarm clock hadn't rung yet, but sleep had already abandoned her.

She lay still for a moment, staring at the clean, cream-painted ceiling. A soft blue accent wall. A framed photo of her parents on the shelf. A glass vase with artificial lilies beside it. Everything felt the same, and yet today, something inside her whispered it wouldn't be.

A flicker of excitement, tangled with nerves, fluttered in her chest. She stretched her arms, brushing the edges of the file carefully placed on the bedside table - her certificates, mark sheets, and one sheet of paper that had changed everything.

S3 Corporation.

The name alone felt like thunder.

A company so powerful it could swallow entire cities whole. Its empire stretched beyond money; it was shrouded in rumors, whispered secrets of a nameless CEO. No magazine covers bore his face. No news anchor dared to speak his name without hesitation. He was a shadow behind a billion-dollar empire.

And yet... Priya Selvam had dreamt of this place.

A soft knock broke the silence.

"Kanna... upava? It's already seven," came her mother's gentle voice.

A small smile tugged at her lips. Amma still called her kanna (nickname given by her amma) - like the little girl with chocolate-stained cheeks and unbrushed hair.

"Coming, Amma," she called back.

She made her way to the dining hall, which opened into the kitchen. The aroma of freshly brewed filter coffee filled the space. Her father sat at the table, engrossed in his newspaper, glasses perched on the edge of his nose, face set in a familiar frown that softened only for his daughter.

"Today is your big day, isn't it?" he asked, peering over the paper.

Priya smiled. "Yes, Appa. The interview."

Her mother placed a cup of coffee before her and a plate of warm masala idlis. "Eat properly, Kanna . You can't go on an empty stomach."

For a moment, it felt like any other day - polished floors, the clatter of utensils, and love woven into mundane conversations. But reality waited beyond those four walls.

After a quick breakfast and blessings from her parents, Priya dressed carefully.

A crisp white shirt. Charcoal grey pencil trouser. Minimal makeup - a dash of kajal and nude lips. Her hair, parted neatly, a few rebellious strands escaping their pins - much like her spirit.

PRIYA'S OUTFIT.

She checked her reflection in the large dressing mirror. Not for beauty. But for courage.

"You've wanted this," she whispered to the mirror. "You belong there."

====

As she took the auto,

The auto ride stretched long, not by distance, but by the whirlwind inside her. The city's noise blurred into the background - honks, shouts, vendors setting up stalls. She clutched the file tighter.

S3 Corporation wasn't just a company. It was a kingdom.

And Priya was ready to earn her place in it ,

Or so she believed.

Not knowing she would be the queen of the company in the future.

The building rose like a monument of glass and steel, a towering giant that swallowed sunlight. Inside, marble floors reflected not just faces but ambitions, fears, and carefully guarded secrets.

And has she entered, she approached the reception.

"Priya Selvam. Interview for the executive trainee position."

A polite nod. A visitor passes. Directions to Conference Room 4B.

Her palms were cold. Her heart a drumbeat in her chest. But she walked.

The room was already filled with candidates. Some chattered nervously, some whispered god's name and others hid behind their phones. Priya took a seat by the window, the file resting on her lap like armor.

AFTER A WHILE...

"Miss Priya Selvam," a voice called, breaking her wait. "You're next."

Heart hammering, she stood. Smoothed the creases of her trousers. Walked.

The interview room was too large. A long panel table. Three executives. And one chair - leather-clad, tall, turned away, facing the skyline.

The questions came. About her skills. Her aspirations. Her knowledge about S3 Corporation.

"It's one of India's leading conglomerates in logistics, infrastructure, and private security. Known for its discreet leadership and market dominance," she answered.

One panelist smiled. "Good. The final decision, however,... rests with our CEO."

The chair turned.

And time stopped.

Sachin Sinha.

Older. Colder. Eyes sharp with sins, face chiseled with power.

Their eyes locked.

And then - the old memories came rushing.

FLASHBACK - College days.

A name. A face.

Sachin Sinha.

Not a boy. Not even back then. A predator in the skin of a prince.

Rumors floated like ghost stories in the hostel corridors. Girls whispered about how hearts crumbled in his wake, how his sharp tongue and sharper smile left a trail of broken souls. No one could tame him. No one dared to get too close.

And still... Priya had watched him from afar.

She used to find excuses to linger around the corridors he often passed through. Pretending to check the notice board, borrowing notes from a friend near his classroom, or waiting in the library a little longer just to catch a glimpse of him when he entered. A harmless brush with his presence felt like an adrenaline rush.

At inter-college fests, while everyone else focused on performances, her eyes would always search for him. Tracing the way his broad shoulders carried effortless arrogance, the way he laughed with his circle of loyal followers - a laugh that never quite reached those sharp, stormy eyes.

Even though her friends warned her, calling him a heartbreaker wrapped in expensive shirts and wicked charm, her foolish heart refused to listen. She'd scribbled his initials in the corners of her notebooks. Memorized the way his hair fell over his forehead, how his voice dropped low when he spoke something cruel yet captivating.

She paid attention to the scent of his cologne - sharp, smoky, intoxicating. A scent that lingered in the corridor long after he passed, one she could recall even now if she closed her eyes.

There were days she stayed seated at the far end of the canteen, pretending to be busy on her books, only so she could watch him. How his presence filled the space, how conversations hushed and eyes followed him. He was a storm. Unpredictable. Untouchable.

And she... a speck of dust in that whirlwind.

She would imagine ridiculous scenarios in her head. What if their eyes met? What if he called her name? What if - against all odds - he smiled at her? It was silly, but her young heart clung to those fantasies.

A harmless crush, she'd told herself. Nothing more. A teenage phase, a distant admiration for a boy who would never know she existed.

But crushes... they aren't always harmless.

Some are slow-burning poisons, infecting your heart quietly until one day you realize you've built an entire world around a ghost.

And Sachin Sinha had been that ghost for Priya Selvam.

She was a speck in his storm.

Or so she thought.

___

A cruel, knowing smirk ghosted his lips. Recognition flickered in those ruthless eyes.

"Miss Priya Selvam," his voice was silk over a dagger breaking her thought's , "welcome to my world."

And in that heartbeat, Priya realized - destiny wasn't coincidence.

She didn't knew that he meant those words "welcome to my world." was for making her as his world, his life.

It was a carefully laid trap.

The silence in the interview room was suffocating.

Priya's pulse thudded in her ears as Sachin's gaze pinned her to the spot. She wanted to look away, to flee, to dissolve into the walls — anything to escape the intensity of those dark, unforgiving eyes. But her body betrayed her, frozen in place, caught between disbelief and fear.

He was no longer the boy she once secretly admired from a distance. He had become something far more dangerous. A storm that had grown sharper, crueler with time.

And yet, in that ruthless smirk, she glimpsed the ghost of the boy who once ruled her daydreams.

"I trust you'll prove yourself worthy, Miss Selvam," Sachin's voice cut through the tension like silk wrapping around a blade.

She forced a stiff nod.

The panelists exchanged glances, blissfully unaware of the storm that had cracked open in that moment.

"Congratulations," one of them announced. "You've cleared the first round."

Priya barely registered the words. She clutched her file like a lifeline, offering a robotic thank you before stepping out of the suffocating room. The moment the door clicked shut behind her, the corridor outside felt no less airless.

Her steps faltered as she reached the waiting lounge. Her heart pounded so loud, she was certain the receptionist could hear it. She took a deep breath, gathering herself. A group of candidates queued by the elevators, all eager to escape the corporate fortress.

The nearest lift dinged open. Full.

Priya sighed. The next elevator arriving was nearly packed too. A security staff gestured to the far end. "Madam, that one's open."

In her haze, Priya didn't realize the lift he pointed to was marked PRIVATE ACCESS in discreet silver letters.

She hurried towards it, stepping in just as the doors parted.

It was sleek, quieter, the interiors done in dark glass and chrome, a faint scent of rich leather and cologne lingering inside. She barely noticed, her mind replaying the last ten minutes like a broken film reel.

As the doors slid shut, a deep, unmistakable voice spoke from behind.

"I see you didn't waste time finding my private elevator, Miss Selvam."

Her heart lodged in her throat.

She turned sharply.

Sachin Sinha stood there — tall, lethal in an immaculately tailored suit, eyes unreadable. His presence devoured the confined space.

She stepped back instinctively, spine pressing to the mirrored wall. Her voice died in her throat.

A predatory smile ghosted his lips.

"Relax, Miss Selvam. This is your welcome tour," he murmured, leaning casually against the wall, as if they hadn't just shared a lifetime's worth of tension minutes ago.

Her fingers clutched the file tighter.

"Sach... sorry sir... I—I didn't know this was private. I... the lift outside was full..."

"Good," he cut her off smoothly. "Fate has a way of leading you exactly where you belong."

The elevator began its ascent. Floors blinked past.

Priya's skin prickled with unease. She could feel his gaze grazing her face, her neck, like a touch without contact.

Then, his phone buzzed. He picked up.

"Yes?" he spoke curtly.

"Sir, as per your instructions, Miss Priya Selvam's placement details are finalized. She's secured for the executive floor, adjoining your wing. No external rosters, no visible records connecting her to you."

Priya's stomach twisted. She didn't understand the words, but the timing sent a shiver down her spine.

Sachin's eyes never left her as he spoke.

"Good. No names. No rumors. Not until I say so."

He ended the call, sliding the phone into his coat pocket.

The doors opened.

They were on the executive floor.

The hallway was stark, silent, walls lined with glass. A different world from the bustling floors below.

He gestured for her to step out.

She hesitated.

"After you, Mrs. Sinha," he murmured, voice almost a whisper.

She froze.

"What did you just—?"

He smiled, the kind that promised danger.

"Welcome to S3, Miss Selvam."

And then, without another word, he walked past, his cologne lingering like a dark promise.

...

Much earlier — before this meeting, before the interview — and before this day .

In the heart of a towering glass fortress, a man sat alone in his office — the lights dim, the air thick with secrets, and the city skyline stretching endlessly beyond the tinted windows.

Sachin Sinha.

The name whispered in boardrooms, feared in alleys, and spoken in low voices by those who valued their lives.

A man untouchable by law, invincible in business, and impossible to forget.

His phone buzzed once.

A private line.

He picked it up, leaning back into his leather chair, a glass of aged whiskey in hand.

"Sir," came a voice from the other end — loyal, careful, and slightly nervous. "It's confirmed. That girl... Priya Selvam. She's on tomorrow's interview list. Executive trainee position. From her college."

Sachin's eyes darkened, a slow, cruel smile curving his lips.

"Hmm... Priya Selvam," he repeated the name, savoring it like a forbidden drug.

"She applied through campus placement, sir. She has no idea about—"

"Good." Sachin's voice dropped to a lethal softness. "Make sure no one mentions my name to her. Not a word. Not a hint. I want her to walk through those doors thinking it's just an interview. I want to watch the color drain from her face when she realizes whose territory she just entered."

He took a sip of his drink, eyes gleaming like a wolf who'd finally cornered his prey.

"And listen carefully," he continued, his voice cold as death. "Make damn sure she doesn't change her mind. No cancellations. No reschedules. Her name will be there; her footsteps will walk into my office. And once that happens..."

He let the threat hang in silence.

"Yes, sir. Understood."

Sachin cut the call, placing the phone down with a quiet finality.

The room was silent again, save for the soft hum of the city beneath him.

He stood, walking towards the window, looking down at the tiny people moving like ants — oblivious, powerless.

A dangerous smirk returned to his lips.

"Miss Priya Selvam," he whispered, the words tasting like sin.

"No... Mrs. Sinha."

"Once you enter my world, there's no such thing as going back. Day by day... you're becoming my goddamn weakness. And I never forgive weaknesses, nor do I lose what's mine, you've always belonged to me. The world just didn't know it yet."

The night swallowed his words.

And the city had no idea what storm was about to come.
