The corridors of S3 Corporation stretched endlessly - like they knew what fate was unravelling within them.

The shimmering glass walls that once echoed ambition now only reflected the hollow outline of a girl walking away from everything she thought she knew.

Priya Selvam stepped into the elevator, her heart beating like a war drum in her chest. She barely noticed the polite nod from the receptionist as she exited the building.

Her mind was somewhere else - far away, wrapped in the cold smirk and burning eyes of a man she once dared to crush on.

Outside, the evening had quietly bled into the night. The streetlights flickered uncertainly, casting elongated shadows on the pavement as the city's chaos faded into an unsettling stillness.

But her thoughts... they screamed.

His face.

Those eyes.

That voice.

It clung to her like fog - thick, suffocating, inescapable.

She tried booking a cab. The app kept lagging. The signal was weak.

Frustrated and anxious, she sighed. "Better I walk. Amma would already be fuming."

Without thinking, she began walking - arms wrapped tightly around herself as if she could shield her racing heart.

"Indha vazhi ipdi evlo neelama irukku..."

(Why does this road feel so long...?)

She cursed herself for walking alone. For not booking a cab earlier. For being so... foolish.

Then she felt it.

That chill in her spine.

The unmistakable sense of being watched.

A low whistle.

Footsteps.

She quickened her pace. So did they.

Three shadows emerged behind her. Loud, careless, reeking of alcohol and malice.

"Hey there, baby... lost?" one of them leered, voice dripping venom.

Priya clutched her bag. Her breath caught. Her throat tightened. She turned her head slightly - no one. No cars. No shops open.

No help.

"Leave me alone," she tried. Barely a whisper. Her voice cracked.

One of them laughed. The kind that chills your bones.

"Should I scream? Call Appa? Police?"

Her thoughts were a mess.

"No one's coming. I need to do something - anything..."

One man reached for her wrist.

And then - the world changed.

A brutal growl of an engine tore through the street.

A black SUV swerved to a halt right in front of them, tires screeching. Headlights blazed, cutting the night like knives.

The car door opened with a slow, deliberate click.

A figure stepped out - slow, precise, calm.

Like a predator.

Dressed in black, suit sharp, shirt collar open, hair tousled by wind. A cigarette dangled between his fingers - though he wasn't the type to smoke unless his rage needed something to burn with.

And tonight - it burned.

Sachin Sinha.

The man she once admired from afar - now standing like wrath incarnate.

His eyes landed on her.

Those teary, terrified eyes.

And something in him snapped - not loudly, but like a glacier breaking beneath the surface.

He turned to the men. His voice, soft but dangerous:

"You picked the wrong girl."

They laughed - until the first punch shattered a jaw.

Sachin moved like fury sculpted in human form. Clean, brutal, quiet.

He grabbed the man who touched her wrist. Bent his fingers back - until a scream echoed through the empty street.

"Do you even know who she is to me?" he whispered coldly. "My Lakshmi. My peace. My rage. My reason."

He stepped back and dialled.

"Preetham."

"Boss?"

"Sector Eleven. Three stray dogs. Alive. Deliver them."

A pause. "To Vose Mansion?"

-VOSE MANSION.

If hell had a home, it was that.

Hidden behind barbed woods and silent hills, Vose Mansion didn't exist on maps - only in whispers of men who never returned.

Black iron gates that never opened for mercy.

Chandeliers that watched blood stain silk.

Cologne, cigars, secrets... and death.

Guns rested like beasts in drawers.

And fear walked its marble halls in designer shoes.

Only one man ruled it.

Sachin Sinha.
..

-The thugs went pale.

"Wait- please- we didn't-"

But he was done.

He turned to Priya, took a step closer - hand raised to brush a tear off her cheek.

But he paused.

Didn't touch her.

Not without her permission.

His words, low and ragged, touched her instead.

"Let the world burn for you... or I'll burn myself, Priya."

She gasped - unsure if from fear or the terrifying warmth in those words.

His voice dropped again.

"Next time, don't walk alone. I won't let this happen again. Not while I breathe."

He signalled one of his men - Rudra, silent, loyal.

"Take her home. Safely."

Without another word, Sachin stepped back into the SUV.

The goons were dragged in behind him.

And just like that - terror left with him.

Leaving behind only silence, cold wind... and a girl whose world would never be the same again.

Priya stood frozen, still shaking.

Rudra opened the door.

"Shall we, Ma'am?"

She nodded slowly, eyes wide. The car pulled away.

And deep inside her chest - something stirred.

Something more dangerous than fear.

Because whatever had just begun...

It wasn't ending anytime soon.

The street outside her house was unusually silent that night. The kind of silence that felt borrowed, as if the night itself was holding its breath.

Rudra didn't speak much during the drive. His presence was intimidating yet calm - a man of little words, with eyes that had seen more than they should. He didn't glance back at her once, not even when she slightly flinched at the sound of a distant dog howling. He simply drove, like he had done this countless times - delivering people into the jaws of their fate... or back to the safety of their homes.

Tonight, it was the latter.

As the car came to a halt, the heavy headlights bathed the cracked pavement in a yellow glow. He stepped out, walked over, and opened the door for her. No smile, no words. Just a nod.

She stepped out, still shaken, heart still pounding from the event that had just ended - or maybe just begun. Her feet felt heavier than usual as she approached her front door. Her mind wasn't here. Not anymore.

She turned back slightly, only to find Rudra already getting back into the car with phone near his ear. The engine started, then vanished into the dark, leaving behind no trace that anyone had ever been there. Not even tire marks. It was like she had imagined the entire thing.

But her heartbeat said otherwise.

The city was still ticking. Secrets still breathing. But for now - silence.

............................................................

I closed the door quietly behind.

I just went straight into my room, not knowing my amma had called me four times. My appa would have assumed I must be tired from the day - unaware of the storm crashing silently within me.

The moment I was inside, my legs gave up. I slid down the wooden door and sat on the cold marble floor, hugging her knees. No tears. No sobs. Just silence.

I thought it would stop by now -

The fear.

The ache.

The memory of what happened in that dimly lit room.

But it lingered.

Like perfume trapped in the collar of a shirt.

Like smoke after fire.

Like him.

Him.

That voice... deep, measured, and far too calm for the chaos it carried. A voice that warned and promised in the same breath.

Those eyes.

That gaze.

It hadn't touched my skin, but it had cut my soul - like a blade pressing softly against my throat. Not killing. Not sparing. Just reminding.

The way those terrible men had stormed toward me. The way that stranger held my wrist -forceful - but that's not what haunted me.

What haunted me was how he looked at me in that moment.

Like he saw my fear.

And liked it.

Like he breathed it in, swallowed it whole... and then whispered,

"Let the whole world burn for you... and if I can, I will burn myself."

And then he left.

Just like that.

In the middle of my unspoken scream.

And yet...

It wasn't just fear that ran through my veins.

It was something else.

Something darker.

Worse.

Curiosity.

My fingers still trembled as I reached for the glass of water on the side table. My reflection in the steel jug startled my - messy hair stuck to my forehead, pale face drained of colour, eyes wide, hollow, and haunted.

I didn't know.

What?

Why?

How?

But one thing I did know - my life had now split into two parts:

Before him.

And after him.

And this...

This was only my fear speaking.

---

"Kanna, iravu uแน‡avukku vฤ. Maแน‡i paththu ฤgiduccu," amma's voice rang from the kitchen, soft but laced with concern.

I took a deep breath, stood up on shaky feet, and walked down the stairs - leaving my silent war in the room behind, but carrying its weapons within my chest.

The dining table was warm, familiar, scented with sambar and home. But even here, I felt like a guest inside my own skin.

Appa looked up from his plate.

"Enna aachu, ma?"

"Eppadi irundha inikku?"

("What happened, dear?" "How was today?")

I blinked. my mind couldn't find words fast enough.

How was it?

What should I say?

That my heart almost gave up in a room that smelled like polished wood and expensive danger?

That my breath still felt hijacked by a stranger's eyes?

Instead, I just nodded.

"It was okay," I whispered, forcing a tired smile.

But my mind drifted -

Back to the office.

Back to the first step inside that building.

To the strange silence of the corridors.

The way my shoes echoed against the floor like I didn't belong there.

I would start tomorrow. Work. Routine. Deadlines.

But none of it felt real. Not after today.

As her amma served rice and her appa asked about the new place, she answered - barely. Words came late, hesitant.

And in between those conversations,

she saw the reflection of that cabin in her mind.

That room.

That man.

His words.

"Let the whole world burn for you..."

And she knew...

The day had ended.

But the story had just begun.

And Sachin? He's already gaining or maybe will.
